How formal should the personal statement for UC college application be?

The personal statement should sound more like you talking to an application evaluator and not your next best selling novel. What you have so far is too high level and abstract. You need to drill down to the details and be specific about your achievements and why the application evaluators should pick YOU over the other several thousand applicants.
