New home network issue...Bad cable?

I take my laptop and with an ethernet cable, plug it into my wireless router.. presto I have internet. I take my laptop upstairs and plug the ethernet cable into the ethernet jack in the wall... no internet. I checked the continuity of all the pairs and they are good with no shorts. what happened to my internets?
